We commenced our great Australian adventure of 2010-2011 on Queensland's wonderful Sunshine Coast. A brief spell there was followed by one even briefer in Brisbane, followed by a single day in Launceston, Tasmania, before we spent a week hiking the world-renowned Overland Track (which may be seen in another gallery). Then we spent a day recuperating in Hobart, and three wonderful days exploring SE Tasmania. Next, we flew to the Whitsunday Islands on the Great Barrier Reef. Our adventures on Hook Island and Reefworld may be seen in the relevant galleries. We completed our trip with a sea-kayaking adventure, before most reluctantly boarding our flight back to the English winter :(

White Rocks was lovely, but not nearly far enough for Jasmijn! She set her sights upon distant South Molle Island, well out to sea, and gave the command. My protests about fears of drowning, currents, our insufficient time, etc, were duly ignored, and and so, back in the rear, I put my shoulders to the oars. Or paddles. Whatever.
After paddling for an age we finally reached the beach - to discover it made of coral rubble and shells!
We only made it this far thanks to the great skill of the captain here.
And our waterproof bags full of survival gear, should we become marooned on an island etc - again.
South Molle Is beach JdeB
Sadly, we had to leave after only 10 minutes, as we did actually have a plane to catch. After narrowly dodging an ocean freighter, we reached the mainland again...
To discover beautiful beaches, accessible only by sea! And sea turtles! And sting rays...
And big, hungry horse flies! Who for some reason liked the taste of me. And so I paddled, vigorously pursued by the fly...

And thus did we end our adventures. For now, anyway. But.... I'll be back! :)
