Named the sunshine capital of the world, my home city has some of the world’s best beaches. Home to around 2 million, this clean, fun city is also the world’s most isolated capital. It nestles on the banks of the Swan River, so named after the black swans discovered there by the early explorers.
Overlooking the city, with stunning views, Kings Park houses the state botanic gardens, nestled in a large patch of natural bushland.
Home to probably 5 million + people by now, a quarter of the Australian population, and resembling New York City in more ways than one, this teeming metropolis never sleeps. You can feel the life in the air and streets, at any time of day or night.
Bigger than San Fancisco’s Golden Gate bridge, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is the greatest in the world.
Built around one of the world’s greatest natural harbours, Sydney is very much like San Francisco. We even have our own version of Alcatraz!
Housing numerous major and minor theatres and philharmonic orchestras, the Sydney Opera House is one of the world’s greatest musical venues. Also possessing a film industry, Sydney is the Oceanic center for the performing arts.
Countless baffles bring the acoustics close to perfection.
Located behind the Opera House.
These enterprising lads from a local uni have been appearing in the mall on a weekly basis for months dispensing free hugs to the needy. This extremely cool idea needs to catch on around the world. Now I know what to do with myself when next unemployed. Sorry about the camera shake - uncontrollable jealousy!
Sydney has some awesome summer storms. When we left the city on this harbour cruise the sky was blue. Lightening, thunder and torrential rain appeared shortly after in the premature dusk. It all cleared soon after, because no bad weather can last for long here. After all, this is Australia!!!! :):):)
