Berlin has plenty of majestic architecture
The massive Tiergarten in the centre of the city has many lakes, trails and nude sunbathers :)
Part of The Wall has been left standing, Lest We Forget. The rest can be traced by a line of tiles on the ground, weaving through modern Berlin. You can ride the hot air balloon in the top of this shot up and down - it's anchored by a very long rope - if you like heights :) Unfortunately we lacked the time this trip; next trip for sure!
The site of the original Checkpoint Charlie, scene of many a daring escape from East to West, and the deaths of some who died trying.
The museum is full of incredible escape stories; I had to be physically dragged away after several hours. This display remembers a guy who crossed a large part of the North Sea in a kayak prior to eventual rescue by a western ship.
Others made their escapes via home-made ultralights ...
Or even hot air balloons! I strongly recommend the movie about this one.
Those Berliners are pretty alternative. They converted a massive warehouse into an art exhibition, in which they housed this 'mountain of light.' Part of it went onto the roof and another part was a very cool hotel!
