  • The conference was held in the buildings to the left and right of the National Museum of Art. The museum was high on a hill with great views over the city. A series of waterfalls cascaded down to the famous magic fountains of Montjuïc - one of the city's most spectacularly beautiful attractions (largely due to an evening light show). Unfortunately, they were dry when we were there. We'll just have to return...

  • The old city or 'gothic quarter' consists of miles of cobblestoned streets, in which one gets repeatedly lost, only to rediscover certain squares and cathedrals, which appear and disappear. Fortunately, some of the world's best vegan cafes also keep appearing... Apparently it's the largest medievil city centre in the world. And underneath it all are the largest roman ruins in the world. A small part of a roman city is accessible through tunnels.

  • To the right of my super-vet friend Saara here is an awesome authentic vegetarian Turkish cafe. We had Turkish coffees, after which another very talented vet named Peter read our fortunes in the coffee grounds, with spooky results...

  • On my last day we took a gondola from the beach, over the harbour, to the cliff overlooking the city, where there is a cafe with a great observation deck, and an ancient castle overlooking it all, further up.
