In August I was invited to Peru by national animal protection organisation UPA to give a series of presentations on humane education, animal experimentation and several other animal protection issues (see pics).     The Llanganuco road wound beneath the massive Chinancocha cliff rising above the lakes. It appeared to offer world-class climbing.
    This was the view from the trailhead. The three hour hiking route wound up this valley, climbed the cliff at the end, crossed a higher alpine valley, climbed another cliff to the left, and eventually reached Laguna 69, at 4,600 m.
