We started our hike here at St Michael's Church, in the tiny town of Hathersage
We hiked over hill and dale and through freezing wind, to the world-famous Stanage Edge - the birthplace of bouldering and mecca for climbers from across the UK

We walked for about a mile along the edge, being blasted by a truly freezing wind. Needless to say we encountered the occasional mad English jogger wearing almost nothing.

As I said, the world capital of bouldering. There were climbers everywhere. How they didn't freeze to death remains a fascinating physiological mystery to me. My hands were numb inside my gloves, yet they wore none...! Amazingly cool :)
