St Michael's Mount in Cornwall is accessible by foot for only a few hours each day, when a rocky path is revealed at low tide.

In 2003 I drove from the Mexican to Canadian borders along the west coast of America, sleeping in my car. One morning shortly after dawn in Oregon I encountered this misty beach.

It's a tradition at Brighton, UK, on Boxing Day for the surf-lifesavers to congregate offshore dressed as santas. About 10 of them braved freezing weather in 2009, along with some daring swimmers. Most of the rest of Brighton turned out to watch. Now, who said the English are eccentric?

In 2004 I was taken sailing on a massive canal in The Netherlands by some colleagues. I wasn't much help in our race, but the light generated some beautiful photos.

This is the real Brighton, after which that in the UK is named :) It has proper white sand and is warm enough to swim. We even have our own pier here. My Mum lives on the beach here. In fact most Australian's live not too far from some beach or other. That's because we're all highly intelligent.

Whilst driving the length of the west coast of America in 2003 I encountered this beach at sunset in Oregon.
